YEA continues our work with companies around the globe. Since 2000, YEA has taken more than 60 youth to perform in South Africa , Holland and Belgium . YEA has also brought artists and organizations from these countries to Atlanta to work with members of the ensemble. YEA is continuing to collaborate with our artistic partners across the ocean. In the coming year, we are working to create another new work with our South African colleagues.
YEA is currently in the process of raising support for our first trip to perform in China this December at the invitation of the Chinese government. This will be our first trip to Asia after making other trips to Holland, Belgium and South Africa. We are taking 45 youth and chaperones to China as part of a two-week cultural and business delegation. YEA is responsible for only the cost of airfare. The remainder of the expenses are being covered by our Chinese hosts. We are currently estimating we need $60-75,000 (or the equivalent in free or discounted airline tickets).
